Boost Growth with Baileys Laboratory Services
Science plays an important role in growth and management of healthy turf, parks and gardens and at Baileys we believe an investment in knowledge is the key to achieving optimum results.
Our on-site laboratory is fully equipped to carry out leaf tissue, water and soil sample testing to assist our clients in applying the correct fertilisers at the correct rate and the correct time. Tests for plant pathogens can also be conducted.
Baileys' laboratory services are primarily for horticulture, turf and commercial clients but are also available to residential gardeners.
Leaf, water and soil sample testing can be carried out for:
- Large or small production areas
- One off analysis or continued monitoring
Soil Sample Testing
Baileys' horticultural sales staff can collect soil samples from you property for soil sample testing or you can provide your own sample, using a clean trowel to gather approximately 1kg of top soil in a labelled, clear plastic bag. Ensure samples are well labelled if taking more than one.
Soil sample testing is carried out for:
- pH levels
- Phosphorous retention
- Organic mater
- Major nutrients
- Trace elements
Fertiliser recommendations and programs based on the results of these tests and the interactions that can occur between nutrients in the soil are then provided.
Plant Tissue Testing
Failure to thrive is sometimes caused by a particular nutrient deficiency, or excess. These are easily identified through chemical analysis of the plant tissue.
Water Sample Testing
To ensure you are not damaging your crops or garden with unsuitable water, a regular water test is recommended. Salinity and nutrient contamination will be identified earlier and can assist you in maintaining good horticultural practices.
Plant Pathogen/ Potting Mix/ Compost and Fertiliser Testing
The laboratory can also test plant and soil samples for pathogens such as Pythium and Phytophthora. Mulches and soil conditioners can be tested to Australian Standards Mark AS445, potting mixes to Australian Standards Mark AS3743 and soils for landscaping and garden use to Australian Standards Mark AS 4419.
Written reports and recommendations are provided for all tests and recommendations are free of obligation. The turn-around time from sample collection to report is between 10 to 15 days.
