Moisture Absorption
During the first week after application, soil moisture is slowly absorbed by the polymer coating. When the absorbed moisture reaches the encapsulated nutrients, the nutrients begin to dissolve, and to this point, no nutrients are yet released. |

The encapsulated nutrients, gradually dissolve; and in solution are slowly but constantly released by diffusion. |
Polymer Decomposition
Following the complete release of nutrients, the ultrathin polymer membrane collapses then microbially decomposes or photodegrades into naturally occurring carbon dioxide, ammonium and water. |

Polyon Polymer Coated Fertilisers (PCF) are new advanced controllable release fertilisers, which are specifically designed to meet the prolonged feeding requirements of ornamentals. The Polyon coating technology features an ultra-thin polymer coating to provide complete precision release of nutrients gradually over time. Polyon PCF has an extremely tough, durable coating to withstand fracturing even during severe handling, blending or application operations. No premature release due to fractured coating, Polyon is produced by a patented reactive layers coating (RLC) process. This process created a tough, ultra-thin polymer membrane that resists fractures. Other polymer based coatings are susceptible to cracking causing premature nutrient release, inconsistent delivery and possible burning.
