Top 5 must haves for your autumn garden

  • Autumn foliage trees to light up your garden. Now the time to hunt through the hills for trees you like and take you photo to your local garden centre to ID and order.

  • A new vegetable patch planted up with the onion tribe (onions, chives, garlic, leeks and garlic chives) as well as the superfood, cancer fighting cabbage family which includes broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Chinese cabbage and kohl rabi.

  • Florist cyclamen are such a shock of dazzling colour. These house plants are programmed for exposure to cold nights so they are perfect for the patio.

  • Get your online tickets for the Perth Garden Festival coming up this weekend. It's the brightest show in town situated at McCallum Park by the Causeway in Victoria Park.

  • Get a worm farm going.  Its an ideal time with cooler conditions.  This is a terrific project for involving kids and help recycle kitchen waste as well.
